The Government Delegation hosted on Friday a meeting of the Territorial Coordination Committee of Operation Strait Pass (OPE) in which several specific issues of ‘Operation Return’ such as pre-shipments were addressed.
This was explained by the Delegate of the Government, Sabrina Moh, who reported that the conditioning of the entire area of the Maritime Station as well as the pre-shipments “that, in principle, are opened between an hour and a quarter and an hour and a half before and this pre-shipment time is going to be increased until reaching two and a half hours depending on the number of people who take tickets to return to their destination”.
Also, he added, we have been talking about everything related to the Security Plan so that, if necessary, the whole area “has the evacuation plans perfectly coordinated”.
With regard to health issues, he referred to Ingesa’s health care, which has a service of 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, until the end of the OPE and External Health, with the boat inspections that have been carried out correctly.
Another aspect has been the conditioning of the spaces of the Maritime Station to give ease and have greater comfort for people who need to use their spaces and services. “We have already enabled, for example, the prayer area, some areas have also been enabled so that they can be available to all people who need it,” he explained.
AP presence
In his speech, Moh stressed the importance of the attendance of the Port Authority, specifically the Chief of Operation, who had already participated in the Territorial Coordination Committee of Operation Passage of the Strait of previous editions. “Their participation in the meetings is important because the Port Authority is a fundamental piece,” he said.
As for the Maritime Captaincy, the Delegate has pointed out that there has also been no problem despite the greater number of rotations that we have this year.
“We have also talked about an important part regarding Operation Return and that is that this phase of the OPE joins the Fair and, therefore, all the itineraries, by the Local Police, are perfectly designed so that there is no difficulty with the signage and other issues,” he said.
Valuation Operation Output
As the Delegate explained, Friday’s meeting also served to carry out an assessment and a balance of what has happened so far.
“We have seen the data, which in principle has decreased compared to previous years and, above all, we have put on the table the difficulties that we normally encounter with the conditioning of the areas that are close to the border,” he said. Although all the management that takes place at borders is State competence, the surroundings are not and, therefore, “it is always important to talk about coordination”.
In this sense, it has advanced that the possibility of holding a meeting after the end of the OPE has been addressed “so that these problems that have been happening for several years can be tackled in time and that the esplanades can be available to the citizens when the OPE begins and not with this delay”.
