With the new system of bonus to social security contributions that enters into force next September all those entrepreneurs whose workers have a contribution fee of less than 1,800 euros per month will receive more money from the State than they are now receiving.
The rest of the entrepreneurs will not lose a single euro, because the Government of Spain is going to reimburse them everything that exceeds 262 euros until reaching 50%, through a subsidy.
The Delegate of the Government, Sabrina Moh, appeared this morning at a press conference to provide data and clarify the impact that Royal Decree-Law 1/2023 will have, which modifies the 50% bonus to Social Security quotas for a fixed amount of 262 euros per month.
“All those entrepreneurs who pay less than 262 euros per month, are going to start receiving, from the month of September, more money from the State than they have been receiving so far,” he explained.
Thus, Moh has set an example to those entrepreneurs whose workers have the minimum interprofessional salary, and have a contribution base of 1,200 euros per month. “With the previous system, these entrepreneurs received 179 euros a month of state money. With the new system, they will receive almost 83 euros per month more, or in other words, 991 euros per year more.”
Continuing with these examples, the Government Delegate has referred to workers who have a contribution base of 1,500 euros. “With the 50% bonus system, the entrepreneur received 224 euros per month from the State. With the new system they will receive 262 euros per month, that is, almost 38 euros more per month, which means 453 euros more per year”, he reported.
In the event that the worker has a contribution base of 1,700 euros per month, the entrepreneur will receive from the Government 94 euros more annually than with the system that is currently in force.
In her public appearance, Sabrina Moh explained that only from 1,800 euros per month the entrepreneur, “who in no case is going to lose a single euro”, is going to have to advance money. Specifically for this contribution base it would amount to 7.1 euros per month, that is, 85.2 euros per year that the Government, via subsidy, is going to reimburse it through the Public Service of State Employment (SEPE), thanks to Royal Decree 660/2023 approved this Tuesday.
The Lies of Imbroda
The Government Delegate has recognized that she fully understands that, faced with a change of procedure, doubts or even concerns can be generated among entrepreneurs, but she has made it clear that what cannot be done is “to stoke those fears through lies”, referring to the statements of the President of the PP, Juan José Imbroda, in which she has managed to ensure that the new system “is a deadly stick for companies”.
“I understand that we are in elections, but we also have to be prudent and not use anything to win one vote or another,” he lamented. In fact, since many of the people of Melilla receive the interprofessional minimum wage, the entrepreneurs who have hired them will receive more money from the State from September.
For this reason, Moh has made it clear that “it will not in any case be a deadly stick for the business world and for work” as Imbroda has assured. “Not everything counts for a handful of votes,” he insisted.
“The reality is that this measure is designed to benefit the vast majority of entrepreneurs in Melilla, because with the quota of 262 euros per month it will mean more money for entrepreneurs who have workers with contribution bases of less than 1,800 euros per month,” he stressed.
As for the other cases, Moh has pointed out that, thanks to Royal Decree 660/2023 of July 18, they will not be harmed because, if any entrepreneur exceeds this amount, he will be able to request this subsidy that will cover the difference up to 50% of the bonus of the quote as it has been done until now.
Open doors
Moh called for calm and reiterated that the doors of the Government Delegation are open “not only to explain this issue and everything that is necessary about it, but also to hold meetings, once this Royal Decree is implemented, and to be able to evaluate and analyze it and, even, to suggest any improvement that may be necessary.”
Finally, the Delegate has clarified that, as stated in Royal Decree 660/2023, all entrepreneurs who are entitled to the subsidy will receive it.
“I would like to call for peace of mind because the budget allocation would also be covered, since there is a commitment reflected in the Royal Decree itself to be able to make the relevant budgetary modifications as long as the requests exceeded the money budgeted for this issue,” he said.
