The CEIP ‘Encarna León’ in Melilla is one of the centres that participates in an international activity, which is taking place this week in Madrid, organized by the Ministry of Education and Professional Training (MEyFP), at the request of the European Commission.
As reported by the Head of the Educational Programs Unit (UPE) of the Provincial Directorate of Education in Melilla, María Victoria Menchacatorre, this activity, belonging to the working group called ‘School Centers: Education for Environmental Sustainability’, is aimed at showing “the very important role played by the development of educational infrastructures and the creation of sustainable learning environments, in order to promote a culture of sustainability and global citizenship in the educational community”.
Within the framework of this activity, a video has been produced about the CEIP “in which are shown those elements that in their design have improved the sustainability of the educational center and, therefore, contribute to the environmental awareness of the students and their environment”, he explained.
The Provincial Directorate, through the UPE, participates in this Working Group, with the presentation of this video that shows the facilities of the new Encarna León center, focusing “on the aspects that, since its design, were taken into account to favor sustainability and promote environmental culture among the educational community,” he said.
The video, added Menchacatorre, has been made possible thanks to the collaboration of the teachers of the professional family of Image and Sound, of the cycle of Higher Degree of Lighting, capture and image treatment of the Integrated Vocational Training Center (CIFP), Queen Victoria Eugenia. “We want to thank the director of the center, Pedro Cortés de Benito, and the teachers of the cycle, for their great work and willingness to collaborate with us,” stressed the Head of the UPE.
