Melilla will host tomorrow, for the first time in history, the working meeting of the State School Council, which is the participatory body of the sectors most directly related to the educational sector in our country.
Specifically, the members of the Permanent Commission, headed by its President, Encarna Cuenca Carrión; the Vice-President, Jesús Jiménez Sánchez; and the Secretary General, Carmen Martínez Urtasun, will be transferred to our city.
In total, about 20 people will travel to Melilla to hold this meeting, which includes trade union organizations, Associations of Parents of Students, the State Confederation of Student Associations, the CEOE, the FEMP, or the Institute of Women, among others, in addition to representatives of the Ministry of Education and Professional Training.
The Government Delegation will host the meeting of the State School Council. A body that was created with the Organic Law regulating the right to education in 1985 and whose scope extends to the whole country.
Its members decide on the draft educational standards, which must be approved by the Parliament, the Government or by the head of the Ministry of Education. It also approves for each school year the Report on the State of the Education System, which includes proposals for improving education that reach the support of its members.
The Council also undertakes consultative, advisory and proposal work with the Government of the Nation on the various aspects of the educational system.
The Delegate of the Government, Sabrina Moh, has been pleased that a meeting of this relevance takes place in our city. “It is very positive that Melilla hosts one of the meetings of the State School Council and, in turn, it is a magnificent occasion for the members of this body to know one of the most beautiful cities in the world, as is ours,” he said.
The fact that this working meeting materializes in Melilla will allow its members to get to know first-hand a city unique in the world, its modernist buildings and its historic center. In this regard, a visit to the Assembly Palace is scheduled for tomorrow, as well as a route, during the Friday morning, to different areas of the city.
