Last March, Melilla reached 25,000 members of Social Security, the best figure in the historical series, thanks to the increase of 631 members during the past month.
In the country as a whole, with 152,000 more members, there has also been the highest growth in the historical series, and there are more than 20.5 million members of Social Security, as announced this morning by the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration.
The Delegate of the Government, Sabrina Moh, has highlighted this historical fact. “These data are a collective success that we should all welcome. They are a success for the government, for entrepreneurs, for the self-employed and for society as a whole,” he said.
The highest representative of the Executive of Pedro Sánchez in our city has also welcomed the fall in unemployment in our city, after Melilla has been placed in 8,232 job seekers, which implies a reduction of 333 unemployed compared to the previous month (-3.89%).
“The fall in unemployment in Melilla and in the country as a whole is good news because it places economic growth and job creation above pre-pandemic levels,” he said. At the national level, the registered unemployment has stood at 2,862,260 people, the lowest figure in a month of March since 2008.
“This is particularly positive in an international financial and economic context of uncertainty,” said Moh, who pointed out that these data show that the measures implemented by the Government of the Nation to alleviate the economic consequences of the Ukrainian war on the economy and the business fabric have been effective.
With regard to contracting, during the past month, 1,749 contracts took place in Melilla, of which 43.6%, or a total of 621, have been indefinite. It represents a total of 104 indefinite contracts more than the month of February.
“Thanks to the labor reform, the number of indefinite contracts is reaching high levels and confirms that we are facing a structural change in the labor market,” he said, while defending stable or quality employment as a “guarantee of stability and future.”
