“Each one of you constitutes a necessary link to form that human chain that has proven to be vital throughout history and, especially, during the COVID-19 pandemic where you have proven to be true heroes.”
The Delegate of the Government, Sabrina Moh, has put in value the different professionals of the Ingesa in the tribute “to a whole life dedicated to save lives, protect us and take care of us” that has been given this afternoon in the Kursaal Theater to the more than 200 people who have retired between 2015 and 2022.
The highest representative of the Government of Spain in our city has stressed that, fortunately, we can already talk in the past about the worst part of the pandemic. A stage, however, where he has made it clear that the Ingesa staff “have been indisputable protagonists”. A work, he said, that “has been recognized by all Spanish citizens every day when, at 20:00 hours, the silence of the streets was interrupted by the applause of millions of people who, from their windows, balconies and terraces, wanted to show the admiration they felt for your daily work.”
But, Moh wanted to clarify your exemplification and professionalism have gone far beyond the pandemic, “that is why the act we celebrate today is so important, this meeting that will allow us to grant laundry, masonry, sewing, iron, waitstaff, nursing assistants, pawns, telephone, administration staff, electricity, medical and nursing personnel a public recognition with which we want not only to recognize but also to thank the services provided to Melilla society for years.”
“You have all been necessary to write this story. There are many people who, with your hands, have carried out different tasks to achieve the same objective, to protect us,” he said.
And, in that recognition, the Delegate has had words for those who have washed, operated, cured… “together, you have developed a collective work that has resulted in an improvement of our health services and in a fundamental and necessary network of protection.”
Follow the legacy
At this point, he indicated that both the new generations that are integrating the system together with those who hold positions of responsibility in the institutions “have the obligation to continue taking care of the legacy you have left, so you have our commitment to continue working to improve this essential service and that the Melillense citizens can have a health according to real needs”.
“Your hands have been at the service of all the Melillense citizens and your lives linked to the health and well-being of others, so my last words I want you to go in the same line as the first, to show my admiration, respect and gratitude towards you, something born of recognition of the importance of your work, the difficulty it entails and the immense responsibility it entails.
In her speech, Sabrina Moh also had words of affection, gratitude and recognition for the relatives and loved ones of the honorees, since “they have also contributed so that you can carry out your work with dedication and dedication.”
The Delegate has also had words of remembrance for all those people who have left us during this time. "They are a fundamental part of this day," he said.
