The Provincial Director of Education of Melilla, Juan Ángel Berbel, has praised the completion of the work of the Center of Early Childhood and Primary Education (CEIP) ‘Encarna León’ and its functionality. “The end result is simply spectacular,” he said.
The representative of the Ministry of Education and Professional Training (MEyFP) in our city visited this morning, together with the Speaker of Education of the Socialist Parliamentary Group in Congress, María Luz Martínez Seijo, and the Delegate of the Government, Sabrina Moh, the works of this educational infrastructure.
As Berbel has reported, specialized architecture magazines nationwide consider it as one of the 10 best constructions in educational centers in 2022 throughout Spain.
A work that started in January 2020 and is about to finish, meeting the deadlines set, despite the Covid-19 pandemic and the consequences of the war in Ukraine, as he highlighted.
Berbel has referred to the 12 million euros of investment that have made this 4-line center a reality, which will house 1,000 students and will serve to revitalize the entire neighborhood, while at the same time providing this area of the city with facilities and sports courts that it lacked. “This center will allow students to use these infrastructures during school hours and, during non-school hours, through agreements or agreements, citizens or sports clubs can do so,” he said.
Juan Ángel Berbel has announced that for the academic year 2023-2024 this center will be operational but has clarified that, if the administrative licenses are before and all the staff associated with the start of the center is, it may be considered with the management team to make the transfer before the next school year.
“What we have done with previous completed buildings is to agree with the management teams what is the most propitious moment for the move, so as not to cause any disruption in the operation of the center,” he explained.
Education, in the DNA of the Government
The Provincial Director of Education has assured that the Executive of Pedro Sánchez carries “in his DNA” the bet for educational quality, which is not, he added, but “a bet for the future”.
Something that can be observed in the fact that “investments in educational infrastructures have been very powerful” this legislature, referring to the 11 million euros for the construction of the Institute located in Jardín Valenciano, the 1.7 million euros for the Modular Classrooms or the implementation of the work of the Central Market.
But it has also highlighted the provision of human resources and means. With regard to the former, it has valued the quota of 225 teachers, which involves more than 9 million euros in salaries. “Thanks to this quota we have been able to carry out a split in 43 units, which has allowed us to reduce the ratio,” he explained.
Regarding the media, Berbel referred to the 13 million euros that have been invested in digital classrooms, training in this subject for teachers, implementation of digital programs, devices and tools… which has resulted in “a qualitative leap in quality in teaching”.
