- The victim is an 88-year-old woman, who was allegedly killed on September 11, 2026.
- The number of women killed by violence in the couple or ex-couple in Spain amounts to 37 in 2026 and 1,378 since 2003.
- This is the fourth confirmed case so far this year in the Community of Madrid.
The workers of the Delegation of the Government of Spain in the Community of Madrid, headed by the delegate of the Government in the Community of Madrid, Francisco Martín Aguirre, and the subdelegate, Pilar Trinidad Núñez, have observed a minute of silence to condemn the last feminicide confirmed for alleged gender violence in the Madrid town of San Sebastián de los Reyes.
This is an 88-year-old woman, allegedly murdered by her spouse on September 11, 2026. The victim had no daughters or minor children. There were no previous complaints of gender-based violence against the alleged aggressor. With the confirmation of this case, the number of women killed by gender violence amounts to 37 in 2026, four of them in the Community of Madrid. The figure has risen to 1,378 since 2003, when these data were first collected.
The delegate of the Government has valued these figures as an “absolutely unacceptable” situation and has once again called on the whole of society and all administrations to do everything in our power to fight in a forceful, effective and exemplary way against male violence, since “before this barbarism there is no room for more hesitation, no room for more silence”. Martín Aguirre has also sent a “message of solidarity and affection to the relatives of the victim” and has insisted that “there is no circumstance that relates the seriousness of what happened”.
In the institutional statement, read by the head of the Coordination Unit Against Violence Against Women of the Government Delegation in Madrid, Eva Corrales Melero, the methods of communication that victims have at their disposal have been recalled, such as telephone 016, online consultations through the email address 016-online@igualdad.gob.es, the WhatsApp channel in the number 600 000 016 and online chat, accessible from the website violenciagenero.igualdad.gob.es, which operate 24 hours a day, every day of the year.
On the other hand, it also recalls that in an emergency situation you can call 112 or the emergency telephones of the National Police (091) and of
the Civil Guard (062). In case it is not possible to make a call and in a situation of danger, you can use the ALERTCOPS application, from which an alert signal will be sent to the police with geolocation. These means of assistance can be activated by the victim and by anyone who knows or suspects a case of gender-based violence.
