1151 farmers from the Community of Madrid will begin today to receive a total of 3,901,193.02 euros in aid for the purchase of fertilizers, which will go to about 70,000 hectares of rain-fed land and about 13,000 hectares of irrigated land.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, as of today Friday, pays this extraordinary aid included in Article 50 of Royal Decree-Law 7/2026, of March 20, of the Comprehensive Plan of Response to the Middle East Crisis, with a total national subsidy of 700 million euros to facilitate the purchase of fertilizers to farmers due to the increase in the price of this input.
The total aid for the whole of Spain is 494.57 million euros, which will be distributed to 249,376 farmers. The publication corresponds to the first list of beneficiaries, who will be able to consult the amounts of the grant in the website of the Spanish Agricultural Guarantee Fund (FEGA).
The beneficiaries will receive aid of up to EUR 92.5 per hectare for irrigated crops and up to EUR 38.33 for rainfed crops.
Fertilizers are one of the raw materials that have become more expensive due to the war, so this measure seeks to alleviate the impact of this increase on farms. The aim is for farmers to be able to apply appropriate levels of fertilisation, which are essential in order to maintain the volume of agricultural production, without this entailing a high cost and without repercussions on a rise in food prices.
