The Ministry of Culture, through the Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts (ICAA), has resolved the first general support procedure for the production of feature films on the 2026 project in the amount of 30,735,600 euros, which includes 27 Madrid production companies, with participation in 15 projects, which receive 6,920,000 euros.
The budget allocation is entirely charged to the available credit of the ICAA Film Protection Fund, and the total amount for the call for 2026 is 62 million euros, to be resolved in two procedures. Of the 47 projects that have applied for assistance, 31 have been beneficiaries, of which 30 are fiction projects and 1 documentary.
For their part, of the total number of beneficiary projects, 20 are international co-productions that have obtained aid in the amount of 19,735,600 euros, which represents 64.21% of the total allocation.
Promotion of equality
In terms of the impact of the clauses to reduce the gender gap, 9 projects directed exclusively by women who have applied for assistance have benefited, which represents 29.03% of the total number of beneficiary projects. These 9 projects also feature a screenplay written exclusively by women.
With regard to executive production, out of a total of 39 projects admitted with women in this position, 29 were beneficiaries.
As for the composition of BSO, out of a total of 31 projects admitted with women in that position (73.81%), 20 projects have benefited, which represents 64.52% of the beneficiaries.
Finally, all projects applying for assistance have a technical team with at least 40% female presence.
Autonomous Communities
In addition to the Madrid production companies mentioned above, 7 Andalusian production companies receive a total amount of 4,000,000 euros for their participation in 6 projects; 2 production companies in the Canary Islands receive 2,000,000 euros for the production of 2 feature films; 17 Catalan production companies, with participation in 9 different projects, receive aid of 7,815,600 euros; 1 Navarre production company receives 1,000,000 euros; 5 Valencian production companies receive 1,000,000 euros for their participation in 4 feature films; and 12 production companies in the Basque Country receive 8,000,000 euros for the production of 10 feature films.
