- The Government has today initiated the payment of about 528,000 euros to farmers and ranchers in the Community of Madrid affected by the major fires that occurred this summer.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food will begin today to pay the more than 27.8 million euros in direct aid to 9,679 farmers and ranchers throughout Spain. The beneficiaries will receive through their mobile phone the notification of the entry of the aid into the account of their financial institution.
This direct aid to 9,679 farmers and ranchers comprises two lines: compensation for loss of income on the affected farms and additional support for the cost of agricultural insurance for policyholders. All information relating to these grants is available on the Ministry ' s website.
The objective of this support is that they can cope with the expenses and losses arising from the fires, regardless of the indemnities of their insurance. The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food thus fulfils the commitment made by Minister Luis Planas that the people affected would receive these subsidies before the end of the year.
Distribution of aid
The bulk of the aid, 21.5 million euros, will be received by 3,446 affected, to compensate for the loss of income; from this item, more than 520,900 euros are for the Community of Madrid.
