- The exercise will take place from 23 hours on Thursday 6 to 5:30 hours on Friday 7 November.
- It will have the participation of all the services involved in a real emergency action.
- Traffic from the M-40 will be redirected by the M-30 and the accesses from the A-6 and the M-30 to the M-40 will also be affected and diverted.
The Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility is going to carry out tomorrow, Thursday 6, a fire drill in the tunnel of superimposed roads of the M-40 at kilometer 49, in Madrid. The simulation will take place on the inner road of the M-40, although it will also have an impact on the outer road.
The action will involve the extinction of a fire and the evacuation of wounded and users. The exercise will involve emergency services, firefighters, health services, Civil Traffic Guard, Municipal Police, tunnel managers and Civil Protection.
In order to guarantee the safety of participants and users, from Thursday, November 6, at 23 to 5:30 hours on Friday, November 7, total traffic cuts will be made between kilometer 46 and 51 of the M-40, in both directions, including the accesses in the affected area.
During this period, the traffic of both roads will be redirected by the M-30, while the accesses from the A-6 and the M-30 to the M-40 will also be affected and diverted. Likewise, the traffic of dangerous goods, in the stretch between the A-6 and the M-607, must flow through the southern stretch of the M-40.
The affectations necessary for the realization of this simulation are:
- M-40 inner road: total cutting of the trunk at the height of exit 46 towards A-6 all directions. Users should take the exit 46.
- Ramal access from A-6 decreasing to M-40 interior: total cut of ramal. Detour to M-40 sense A-5.
- Ramal access from A-6 increasing to M-40 interior: total cut of ramal. Detour to M-40 sense A-5.
- M-40 exterior roadway: total cutting of the trunk at the height of exit 51 towards M-30 direction A-6. Take exit 51.
- Ramal access from M-30 decreasing (avenue of the Enlightenment) to M-40 outside: total cut of ramal. Detour to M-30 sense A-6.
The Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility has recently carried out different simulations with fires in tunnels: the one carried out in Cantabria, in the Bárcena de Pie de la Concha tunnel or in Canfranc, in the Somport tunnel.
