The delegate of the Government of Spain in the Community of Madrid, Francisco Martín Aguirre, has defended today that “Madrid feels good about a progressive government in Spain” and has claimed that “there has never been a government as committed to Madrid as it has been, is and will continue to be the government of President Sánchez”.
It was during his speech as guest speaker at the Madrid Breakfasts of Europa Press, where he was presented by the Minister of Equality, Ana Redondo, and was attended by several ministers and secretaries of State.
The government delegate has justified his claim based on “objective realities”, fleeing from forophism and militancy, and has rejected those who repeatedly try to make invisible or deny the fact that Madrid, like the rest of Spain, has considerably improved the conditions of its citizens compared to a decade ago.
Among the data evidencing this fact, Francisco Martín has listed the leadership of Spain in European economic growth, the decrease in unemployment, the revaluation of pensions or the increase of 60% in the Minimum Wage. Also the fact that the 3,800,000 members of Social Security were reached in September 2025, 646,000 more than in June 2018 and that the million indefinite contracts were exceeded, 117% more than in 2019. In the case of the Community of Madrid, the average pension has reached 1,731 €/month, 453 € more than in 2018 and 1,176,451 pensioners have benefited from the revaluation of pensions under the CPI in 2025. All this, in his opinion, as a result of “the implementation of public policies of progress”.
Investments in Madrid
The region is the second is the perception of European funds, having received 8,781 million euros for the deployment of investments of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, despite “the sticks on the wheels of those who today benefit from them and are not able to recognize or thank anything”.
The financing of the Community of Madrid in the period 2019-2025 has increased by 43,063.5 million euros compared to the period 2012-2018, an increase of 49.7%, which means an increase in Madrid’s financing compared to the time of President Rajoy by 2.3% above the national average of increase of contributions in the different Autonomous Communities. 2.3% above the national average.
Francisco Martín has used specific examples to substantiate the results of the commitment of the Government of Spain to Madrid, such as the scholarships of the Ministry of Education from which 174,989 Madrileños and Madrileñas benefit from a scholarship for studies of the Ministry of Education or the creation of 4,514 new Vocational Training places. The 25.2 million euros for primary care; the more than 69,900 homes of the Ministry of Housing mobilized in the Community of Madrid: 16,400 homes under construction and more than 53,500 homes in the process of rehabilitation; in the field of Transport, the expansion and modernization of the Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport, to which 4,000 million euros have been allocated, the first phase of transformation of the Madrid Chamartín-Clara Campoamor station, or the increase to 7,116 million euros, 93% more than the initial budget of 2018, in the Plan Cerca.
With regard to the issue of rents, he has criticized the fact that the Government of the Community of Madrid does not apply the Housing Law to avoid abusive rises and does not encourage inspections to avoid fraud and abuse, and put a stop to speculation.
Advances in the field of Equality and against violence against women
The government delegate has assured that no It is going to take “not a step backwards in women’s rights and freedoms”, and has announced that this same month it will present the conclusions and recommendations that emerge from the working table constituted in the Delegation to analyze the evolution of male violence in Madrid, issues that concern all administrations and also society as a whole. In this way, it is intended to bring to light what is hidden behind the increase in the reports of machista attacks in Madrid.
In this area, he has once again called for the immediate incorporation of the 30 municipalities of Madrid with more than 10 local police that, to date, have not yet been integrated in Viogén. A system of police coordination “that saves life every day and that some thirty mayors reject, with unacceptable excuses and, of course, with the intolerable permissiveness of their leaders.”
Security and hate speeches
Francisco Martín has confirmed the “very good results” of the crime rates in the region, which are based on consecutive historical highs in the number of police officers in the Community of Madrid.
He has rejected hate speeches and “unjustified and unjustifiable targeting of migrants, the most vulnerable, to try to block possible political leaks.” In this regard, he has affirmed that the ministries of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration, together with the social agents, with the neighbors and neighbors, with the business fabric, will continue to work in the search for solutions.
In particular, it has set as an example the strengthening of the staff of the Aliens Office by 80% with the aim of dealing with the increase in demand as a result of the application of the new Aliens Regulation.
Memory
After the declaration of several places of Democratic Memory in the region, it has been asked who can see an aggression in the installation of a plaque in a building where there are already other plaques, in reference to the one that wants to be placed in the Royal Post Office. In his opinion, “only those who have something to hide can fear the memory.”
He has also invited everyone to continue participating in the events of Democratic Memory scheduled in the coming weeks, some promoted directly from the Delegation itself in coordination with the Commissioner and the Secretary of State for Memory, as will be the day of November 15 in which the municipalities of Madrid that have wanted to do so will simultaneously paint murals commemorating the celebration of 50 years in freedom.
