The government delegate in the Community of Madrid, Francisco Martín Aguirre, visited today, together with the mayor of Rascafría, Óscar Joaquín Robles Hernández, the works of the Tourist Sustainability Plan in Destination (PSTD), financed by the Government of Spain with an investment of 1.7 million euros from the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (European funds Next Generation EU
During the visit, the delegate stressed that “these actions reflect the important investments that the Government of Spain is making in the Community of Madrid, betting on its tourism and environmental sustainability”. The PSTD of Rascafría is part of the extraordinary call of 2022, and aims to consolidate a model of tourism management respectful of the environment and based on the participation of the local sector. With a current execution of 40%, the main actions include:
- The protection and improvement of the natural area of Las Presillas, with interventions in accessibility, water quality and energy efficiency.
- The creation of a pedestrian and cyclotourist itinerary that will connect the municipality with the Monastery of El Paular.
- The implementation of digital technologies for the monitoring of visitors and the promotion of an Intelligent Tourist Destination.
- The valuation of the local heritage, such as the Paper Mill site, through immersive resources and technological tools.
These investments are part of the state’s strategy to promote greener, more digital and cohesive tourism. In total, the Tourist Sustainability Plan of the Government of Spain reaches 37 million euros in the Community of Madrid, benefiting about twenty municipalities and natural spaces.
