The City Council of San Sebastián de los Reyes has held the Local Security Board in which the device that will be deployed during the festivities in honor of the Most Holy Christ of Remedies that will take place from August 24 to 31 has been defined.
To ensure the safety of the festivities, more than 230 National and Local Police officers will be present in the streets of the municipality of Madrid. In addition, there will also be occasional reinforcements from the Prevention and Reaction Unit (UPR), as well as the Police Intervention Unit (UIP) during the holding of the confinements.
In the year that is 500 years old, the bulls will once again be one of the central activities of the festivities. During the eight scheduled bullfighting dates, one of them at night, there will be a specific device to guarantee the safety of both runners and spectators in all sections of the route that runs through the historic center until reaching the bullring. For this purpose, 50 agents and 8 vehicles of different categories have been assigned. They will be joined by the members of Civil Protection.
Along with the call for the enclosures, the Consistory hopes that the town will host thousands of visitors attracted by the nearly 250 activities programmed between concerts, parades, cultural and sporting events. In this sense, the influx and accesses will be controlled in those more crowded spaces, such as the fairgrounds and neighboring houses, the Municipal Auditorium or the Plaza de la Constitución.
Two violet points
In addition, San Sebastián de los Reyes will install two violet points, in order to guarantee an adequate emergency intervention in potential cases of sexual violence, also serving as sensitization points.
They will be located in the historic center and in the fairground, until 3:00 am on August 24, 25 and 31; and until 4:00 am from August 26 to 30. This will provide face-to-face care during the night with more crowds of people, by psychologists trained in gender violence.
The Local Security Board has been co-chaired by the deputy delegate of the Government of Spain in the Community of Madrid, Pilar Trinidad Núñez, and the mayor of the town, Lucía Soledad Fernández Alonso. It was attended by members of the Government team, the National Police, the Local Police and the Community of Madrid. The subdelegate wanted to highlight the great effort of coordination of all the Security Forces and Bodies, in such important and well-known parties, as well as the crime figure that has fallen by 8%, which reflects an improvement in the security of the municipality.
