The delegate of the Government of Spain in the Community of Madrid, Francisco Martín, has co-chaired today together with the mayor of Alcorcón, Candelaria Testa Romero, the Local Security Board of the municipality, in which the security devices of the different services and police bodies that will operate during the celebration of the municipal patron saint’s festivities, which will take place from August 31 to September 9 in honor of Our Lady of Remedies.
The meeting was attended by members of the Government team of Alcorcón, local police and firefighters of Alcorcón, representatives of national police, civil guard, civil protection and Community of Madrid.
During the meeting, the Security and Emergency Plan 2025 was approved, which includes a wide deployment of human and technical means to ensure the safe enjoyment of celebrations that bring together thousands of people every year in the fairgrounds, the squares of the center and the Paco de Lucía auditorium.
Among the highlights are the proclamation of September 2, the traditional procession of the Virgin on 7 and 8 days, musical shows and fireworks. For all of them, specific devices have been established with reinforcement of the National Police, Municipal Police, Civil Protection, firefighters and health personnel.
In addition, the measures of video surveillance, access control, deployment of defibrillators, traffic restrictions, evacuation zones and reinforcement of cleaning and public services have been detailed in a device coordinated by the Advanced Command Post and based on the Territorial Plan of Civil Protection (PEMUALCOR).
The government delegate has highlighted how Alcorcón is becoming, together with Fuenlabrada, one of the municipalities with more than 100,000 safer inhabitants in all of Spain; hence, he has thanked not only the action and coordination of the security forces, but also, he has wanted to emphasize that this improvement is thanks to the commitment of the mayor with her neighbors, with social and economic policies and a model of coexistence that has repercussions, in the end, in this improvement of security data.
A specific protocol to prevent sexual violence
One of the key points addressed has been the specific protocol against sexual violence, which will be activated during all public holidays and which strengthens the coordination between security forces, emergencies and specialized personnel. The Violeta Point will once again be located in the area of houses of the fairground, with professionals trained in intervention and prevention.
In addition to direct attention to possible victims, awareness-raising actions, distribution of preventive materials and mechanisms to detect and act in cases of chemical submission will be developed.
Decrease in crime and increase in police effectiveness
Alcorcón presents a favorable evolution in terms of citizen security. According to the provisional balance transferred by the National Police to the Local Security Board, criminal offenses registered in the municipality fell by 2.4% in the first half of 2025 compared to the same period of the previous year. To this decrease is added a 4.78% increase in the clarification of crimes, which evidences the operational coordination between the different security bodies.
