- It will operate along 4.3 km of the A-1, between 12.9 and 17.2 km.
- The objective is to reduce the acoustic impact caused by the A-1 motorway in the municipalities of Madrid and Alcobendas
The Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility has awarded 9.843 million euros (VAT included) for the installation of acoustic screens on the A-1 motorway as it passes through La Moraleja and Alcobendas, in the province of Madrid.
The objective of these works is to reduce the acoustic impact that the A-1 causes in certain municipalities of the Community of Madrid. In this case, action will be taken on the section of the motorway that runs through the municipal terms of Madrid and Alcobendas, from the km 12,900 to 17,200.
The action consists of the installation of 11 new acoustic barriers with variable height between 2 and 6 meters, according to the need. The barriers will be divided into 34 sections that total 3,928 meters, and will be installed on both the right and left sides.
The proposed barrier is a sound-absorbing metallic acoustic screen, with insulation greater than 24dB and absorption greater than 11dB. They have a total thickness of 100mm and are composed of sandwich panels formed by modules of galvanized steel sheet, core of rock wool of 10 kg/m³.
Also included in the works is the adaptation of the longitudinal drainage, due to the changes that may be caused by the execution of the new protection elements, as well as the modifications of the existing safety barriers.
This action, which is framed in the Action Plan against Noise (PAR of the 2nd phase), serves to comply with the provisions of Directive 2002/49/EC of 25 June, of the European Parliament and of the Council, on the assessment and management of environmental noise, which establishes a series of objectives including the creation of a common framework for the assessment and management of exposure to environmental noise.
The project is funded by the European funds Next Generation of the European Union, within the Recovery Transformation and Resilience Plan of the Government of Spain, which has a specific item of 302 million euros (without VAT) to carry out sustainability, energy efficiency and action against noise in the State Road Network.
