- More than 700 National Police officers will be mobilized for the July 5 State Rally, the central event of the festivities.
- The government delegate has recognized the great effort of coordination that this celebration entails but considers it very important to continue consolidating the rights reached.
The government delegate in Madrid, Francisco Martín Aguirre, presided this morning over the Security Board in which the security device for the celebration of the State Demonstration of LGTBI+ Pride 2025, which will take place on July 5, has been coordinated.
In total, the reinforcement of the National Police for the ten days of Pride amounts to about 3,300 agents and, specifically, for the demonstration, more than 700 agents will be mobilized. All of this represents a “very significant effort” to ensure that the actions are carried out with maximum security.
The meeting was attended, also by the Government Delegation: the Government’s deputy delegate, Pilar Trinidad; the Secretary General, Pablo Izquierdo; and the head of the Citizen Security Unit, Sergio Gámez. With them, representatives of the convening and organizing associations —LGTBI+ State Federation and COGAM—; of the Superior Police Headquarters of Madrid; of the Municipal Police of Madrid; of Firemen and Samur-Civil Protection, and of the Mobility Area of the City Council of the capital; of the Regional Transport Consortium; of Metro of Madrid; of the Municipal Transport Company and of Renfe.
Francisco Martín thanked and acknowledged the work of each and every one of the attendees, each within the scope of his or her competences, and his or her willingness to coordinate the operation.
In turn, the convening organizations—through their presidents, Paula Iglesias (FELGTBI+) and Ronny de la Cruz (COGAM)—have taken the opportunity to call on all citizens to join the celebrations at a time when, due to the political context, they see it more important than ever.
A message insisted by the government delegate, who has advocated “to continue consolidating the rights achieved, because it is still very necessary”.
Device details
The device includes the reinforcement or possible closure at Metro and Renfe stations at peak times due to the accumulation of passengers inside and outside that hinders transit, with the consequent risk for security.
Also, after the passage of the demonstration on foot, the fence of the Prado-Recoletos axis will be proceeded to the route of the floats. This measure is intended to increase safety and prevent accidents. At the same time, in the event of an incident, evacuation would be facilitated.
On the part of the National Police, there will be a presence of the Police Intervention Unit (UIP) that will deploy, between the 5th and the rest of the celebrations, up to seven operational groups in which they participate: the Cavalry Section, Mobile Section, Subsoil Section and Group of Canine Guides. To them will be added helicopters of the Air Unit of the National Police and equipment of drones and contradrones to neutralize those that were not authorized.
Demonstration and parade
The walking demonstration and the parade of floats will take place on July 5, under the motto “20 years advancing in rights, not a step backwards”. The first will start at 19:00 hours and the second, around 21:00 hours.
This will entail traffic cuts in the center (starting at 15:00 hours between the Plaza del Emperador Carlos V and the Plaza de Colón, and a little earlier in the street Méndez Álvaro) and the closure in Metro and Renfe stations such as Banco de España, Colón or Recoletos throughout the afternoon.
The closing ceremony will take place in the Plaza de España with an event, organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Equality, focused on the celebration of 20 years of equal marriage in Spain.
