- It will remain active until September 15, with the aim of increasing citizen security in tourist areas.
- The monitoring of recreational areas and summer enjoyment, as well as the prevention of criminal offenses and environmental aggressions are priority objectives of the Benemérita.
- The Civil Guard will ensure safety, both on land, in airspace and in the aquatic environment.
- Safety in large concentrations of people becomes one of the main challenges assumed during the summer.
On the occasion of the arrival of the summer period, the Civil Guard of the Madrid Command launches the Service Plan “Operation Summer 2025” to guarantee the safety of citizens and the enjoyment of leisure time, which this year will have a reinforcement of about 400 agents to reinforce the teams.
This plan, which began on June 14 and will remain active until September 14, represents a “significant effort” of resources, as explained by the government delegate, Francisco Martín, in the visit he made today to the exhibition of material and human resources that the Benemérita has made in the Pantano de San Juan.
“This is a very significant deployment in favor of security, which joins the one already carried out by the Government of Spain to increase staffing levels and reach a record number of troops in the Community of Madrid,” he added.
Francisco Martín has been able to verify the diversity of material means and capacities available to the Civil Guard to guarantee the safety of the tourist enclaves, recreational areas and outdoor spaces of the region, such as drones, watercraft, vehicles of command, helicopters, motorcycles, horses, equipment of diving and rescue in mountains or citizen security of units such as SEPRONA, GEAS, GREIM, USECIC, Traffic and Cavalry.
Likewise, he has asked for “prudence” to the citizens and to pay attention to the recommendations of the State Security Forces and Corps to be able to enjoy their holidays in safety.
Main areas of action
The main agent deployment zones during Operation Summer 2025 are:
- San Juan Reservoir and adjacent areas (M-501, San Martín de Valdeiglesias, Lancha del Yelmo, Embalse de Picadas, La Veguilla).
- Atazar Reservoir.
- Sierra de Guadarrama National Park (Las Dehesas recreational area in the area of Fufrio, Valle de la Fufrio, Laguna de Peñalara).
- La Pedriza (Canto Cochino, Cordel de los Toros, Chopera del río Samburiel).
- Las Presillas, in Rascafría.
- Village of Fresno.
- La Jarosa.
Strength Booster
In addition to the 378 officers of the Civil Guard, who join the Community ' s staff of 3,236, the National Police will be strengthened by 560 officers.
The services that make it up are focused on increasing the surveillance and control of these areas in a way that guarantees the safety of people and prevents the commission of criminal offenses, fires and other aggressions to the environment, mainly in the days of greatest heat and tourist influx.
The second center of gravity of the action of the Civil Guard is the large concentrations of people who, by tens and tens of thousands, will meet in the coming months in many of the municipalities of the region. These crowds of people will occur as a result of popular festivities and, uniquely, because of the increasing number of concerts and music festivals taking place. It also has a place in this section in the vicinity of the theme and water parks located in the areas of responsibility of the Civil Guard.
In these multitudinous meetings, the facet of citizen security is combined with that of security management in large events.
Another scenario in which an effort will be made is the Adolfo Suarez Madrid-Barajas airport, as a result of the increase in passengers and operations carried out due to vacation trips.
In the execution of the different security devices planned, different units of the Civil Guard will participate, which will be coordinated from the Madrid Command to guarantee the rest of the population of Madrid and of those who come for the tourist attraction, leisure or environmental interest of the areas identified.
In Operation Summer 2025, units of the Madrid Command will intervene, based on the Citizen Security patrols, complemented by the specialized activity of SEPRONA, the Mountain Rescue and Intervention Group, the Citizen Security Unit, the Cinological Service, or the Explosives Deactivation Group. In addition, at the Adolfo Suarez Madrid-Barajas airport, the Fiscal and Border Unit of Madrid will carry out its tasks. In addition, in Operation Summer 2025, it will be supported by other Civil Guard units such as the Underwater Activities Unit, the Cavalry Group, the Air Service, the Reserve and Security Groups and the Traffic Sector.
To the traditional security devices in these areas, surveillance from the air through the helicopters of the Air Service and through the use of drones are added; as well as the use of semi-rigid boats in the swamps of greater influx, allowing to project the action of the Civil Guard in the aquatic environment.
In order to guarantee public safety, in many of the scenarios that will take place this summer, the services of the Civil Guard will be coordinated with the affected Local Police bodies and personnel of the Civil Protection groups of the various municipalities involved.
