Record funding for the municipalities of the Community of Madrid

• The 16 most populous municipalities in the region will receive more than 3.1 billion euros in 2025, with increases of up to 21% compared to 2023.
• At the national level, the deliveries on account of the Local Entities will amount to 28,734 million euros, which is a record figure.
• The State cedes a percentage of the collection to the municipalities that are provincial or Autonomous Community capitals or that have a population of law equal to or greater than 75,000 inhabitants.

The Royal Decree-Law approved this week by the Council of Ministers has set a record funding for Local Entities in the year 2025, with a total allocation of 28,734 million euros at the state level. This is an unprecedented increase in response to the government’s commitment to the financial stability of municipalism and the provision of quality public services.

In the Community of Madrid, municipalities will see a significant increase in their resources. The sum of the deliveries on account for the 16 most populated municipalities of Madrid already exceeds 3,190 million euros. All of them recorded increases above 17% compared to 2023, which shows a sustained commitment to strengthening local autonomy.

Structural improvement of funding

These data reflect a structural improvement in local financing, with special incidence in municipalities of growth such as San Sebastián de los Reyes, Rivas-Vaciamadrid or Las Rozas, which exceed the 21% increase compared to two years ago. There are also increases of around 20% in large municipalities in the south, such as Alcalá de Henares, Fuenlabrada, Leganés and Getafe.
