The delegate of the Government of Spain in the Community of Madrid, Francisco Martín Aguirre, has held today a meeting with the mayor of Cercedilla, David Martín Molpaceres and the second deputy mayor, Miguel Campillos Álvarez, where they have analyzed the security of the municipality, mobility in the environment of the Sierra de Guadarrama National Park and have addressed future actions in the fight against gender violence.
The data shared during the meeting led to a positive assessment of the general security situation in the municipality, with a reduction of 5.1 points in its crime rate, standing in March 2025 at 35.7 points, 21 points below the average in the Community of Madrid.
During the meeting, the importance of incorporating the Local Police into the Comprehensive Monitoring System for Cases of Gender Violence, VioGén, has also been stressed and they have reached the commitment to begin work to take the first steps in the line of this incorporation.
Sierra de Guadarrama National Park
During the visit, the government delegate also had the opportunity to take a tour to the entrance of the Port of Navacerrada, located in the Sierra de Guadarrama National Park, the second most visited national park in Spain, according to data from the Ministry of Ecological Transition of 2023, with 2.1 million visitors.
Francisco Martín Aguirre has been able to learn about some of the actions included in the 2025 Action Plan on the ground. This is the case of the works of grounding of the electricity line between Cercedilla and the ports of Navacerrada and Cotos, with funding from the Ministry of Ecological Transition from European funds, and which will include the creation of a pedestrian corridor between the ports of Navacerrada and Cotos, eliminating the informal car parks in the ditches. In total, it includes a budget of more than 13.2 million euros for the year 2025 (5.9 million from the Community of Madrid), almost half of the funds of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan.
