- 10 screens will be installed on both sides of the highway, between kilometers 12.2 and 37.1
- The objective is to reduce the acoustic impact caused by the highway in these municipalities and improve the quality of life of nearby residential areas
- This action is funded through the Transformation and Resilience Recovery Plan
The Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility has awarded a contract of 12.16 million euros (VAT included) for works to reduce the noise of the A-5 motorway as it passes through the municipalities of Navalcarnero, Alcorcón and Móstoles.
The aim of this action is to reduce the acoustic impact of the A-5 motorway in the Community of Madrid and improve the quality of life of the residents of the area. The performance covers 24.9 kilometers of the A-5, from 12.2 at the height of Alcorcón to 37.1 past Navalcarnero.
In particular, 10 acoustic screens of both metal and methacrylate will be installed, with heights of between 4 and 5 meters according to the need. The total length of the installed screens will be 3,489 meters, between the two margins of the road.
The works also include the adaptation of the existing longitudinal and transverse drainage, due to the changes that may be caused by the execution of the new protection elements, as well as the modifications of the existing safety barriers.
This action, which is framed in the Action Plan against Noise (PAR of the 2nd phase), serves to comply with the provisions of Directive 2002/49/EC of 25 June, of the European Parliament and of the Council, on the assessment and management of environmental noise, which establishes a series of objectives including the creation of a common framework for the assessment and management of exposure to environmental noise.
The project is part of the EU-funded NextGenerationEU Transformation and Resilience Recovery Plan, which has a specific heading of sustainability, energy efficiency and noise action in the State Road Network. The ultimate goal is to minimize the impact of roads on the environments in which they transit.
This action is in addition to other works financed by the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan for the fight against noise in the Community of Madrid, such as:
- Installation of acoustic screens on the left side of the A-42, in Getafe. In the phase of execution of works.
- Actions for the development of the Action Plan Against Noise in the Southeast Area of the M-40 in Madrid. In the phase of execution of works.
- Project for noise mitigation on the A-1 between Madrid and Alcobendas. In the phase of bidding for works.
- Replacement of acoustic screens on the A-1 as it passes through Lozoyuela. In the phase of execution of works.
- Development of the Action Plan Against Noise on the AP-6 motorway as it passes through Collado Villalba, Alpedrete and Guadarrama. In the phase of execution of works.
