- Francisco Martín visited with Mayor La Cartuja, a 17th century jewel declared BIC in 2022
The delegate of the Government of Spain in the Community of Madrid, Francisco Martín, today visited Talamanca de Jarama, one of the municipalities with the greatest protected heritage in the region, with up to nine declarations of Good of Cultural Interest (BIC).
Accompanied by the mayor of the town, Juan Manuel García, they have toured La Cartuja, a 17th century building linked historically to the monks of El Paular and declared BIC in 2022. The property, acquired by the City Council four years ago, is undergoing an ambitious restoration that will allow us to recover this historical enclave of Muslim origin and unique architectural value.
During their tour of the municipality, they have been able to testify how the European Funds serve to improve local infrastructures. In particular, Talamanca de Jarama has received from the Recovery Plan investments of more than 1.3 million euros, aimed at projects of energy sustainability, modernization of public lighting, sustainable mobility and digital connectivity that combine innovation with respect for heritage value and the natural environment.
