The Community of Madrid will receive 51,541.77 euros from the funds for the exhumation and identification of victims of the War and the dictatorship

Democratic Memory

  • The Territorial Council of Democratic Memory approved the distribution of funds with 14 votes in favor, 3 abstentions and no votes against
  • The Council has also presented the exceptional work carried out in the Cuelgamuros Valley

The Community of Madrid will receive 51,541.77 euros that will be destined to the memory of the victims of war and dictatorship. The Territorial Council of Democratic Memory, held in Zaragoza, approved the distribution of three million for the different Communities.

Madrid will receive more than 50,000, but there are other funds that are distributed from the Federation of Municipalities and Councils. The criteria of territorial distribution have been carried out after a previous sectoral meeting, with the regional directors and general directors, and taking into account the remnants, that is, the funds that have not been used.

Professor Francisco Etxeberría took advantage of the Council to explain the DNA works and verifications for the identifications. In addition, the exceptional work carried out in the Cuelgamuros Valley was presented, with experts, forensic experts and anthropologists who are allowing the recovery of the victims.
