- The City Council also takes the first step to join the VioGén system with its accession to the Protocol of collaboration and coordination between the State Security Forces and Local Police Forces for the protection of victims of domestic and gender violence
The Government delegate in the Community of Madrid, Francisco Martín Aguirre, co-chaired today the constitutive session of the Local Security Board of Fuentidueña de Tajo together with the mayor of the town, José Antonio Domínguez Chacón.
“It is a good day for Fuentidueña and for the Community of Madrid”, said Francisco Martín, who wanted to highlight the work of the Civil Guard that will now be strengthened with collaboration and coordination with the local police of the municipality, which also plans to increase its staff soon.
Because this is precisely the purpose of this collegiate body: to facilitate the cooperation and coordination, in the territorial area of the municipality, of the Public Administrations in matters of security, specifically ensuring the cooperation and operational coordination of the Security Forces and Bodies that intervene in the municipal term.
Likewise, the “Protocol of collaboration and coordination between the State Security Forces and the Local Police Corps for the protection of victims of domestic and gender violence” of the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces of 2006 has been adhered to, the first step for the incorporation of its Local Police into the VioGén system.
The government delegate thanked the Fuentidueña City Council for demonstrating its commitment to the fight against gender violence by taking this step and stressed the “unbeatable willingness” of the Civil Guard to support the Local Police in this process, along with that of the Government Delegation, through its Coordination Unit against Violence against Women, whose head, Eva Corrales, also attended the meeting.
She has been the one who has explained the phases for full integration into the system and has invited them to participate in the training talks for local police who organize to show the agents the operation of the tool.
“Currently, there are 13,000 women in the region within the VioGén system. Gestures such as this one made today by the City of Fuentidueña help to increase the confidence of women and that many who are not yet in it, denounce and incorporate themselves. We cannot leave any instrument at our disposal to protect the victims,” added the government delegate.
Security data
In addition to those mentioned, representatives of the Civil Guard, the Local Police, the Civil Protection group and a representative of the Community of Madrid participated in the session.
We have also reviewed the main indicators of criminality in Fuentiueña that, although they record increases in some types of crime, they must be contextualized in absolute data that are very low. Hence, the increase in only one crime represents a significant increase in the percentage, as explained by the government delegate.
Special attention has been paid to cybercrime, which also shows an increase, insisting on a pedagogical effort in this type of scams aimed at the most vulnerable groups, such as older people.
