More than 80 professionals from entities, social agents and NGOs specialized in assisting migrant populations have today come to the headquarters of the Government Delegation to attend a briefing on the new Regulation on Foreigners.
With the help of the Secretary General of the Government Delegation, Pablo Izquierdo; the director of the Work and Immigration Area, Paloma Pérez; and the head of the Office of Foreigners, Beatriz Iglesias, have been able to know the main innovations it incorporates, the reasons for the reform and the objectives of the same.
In addition, the participants have been able to communicate their main doubts and queries, and have received a direct channel of communication through which they can channel those that arise in the coming months of application of the Regulation, which entered into force on 20 May.
Reinforcement in Foreigners
The Government Delegation has two Immigration Offices (one in Madrid, on Calle Silva, and another in Leganés), plus a third only for general registration and delivery of duplicates (on Calle García de Paredes).
Its employees, who are in charge of processing the files, have received specific training in recent weeks on the new regulation and, in addition, their staffing levels have been strengthened with the arrival of interim staff to which, soon, new civil servants will be added.
All this with the aim of reducing processing times and guaranteeing the rights and freedoms of migrants and their social inclusion in Spain in a more agile and effective way.
