- Violence against women, equality and non-discrimination are the talks that grow the most from the age of 12.
- The group of 5th and 6th of Primary is the one that accumulates the most talks, but in the secondary the interest rebounds.
- Civil Protection members have actively joined the Coexistence Master Plan in the second quarter
The Government’s sub-delegate in Madrid, Pilar Trinidad, chaired this morning the meeting of the Coordination and Follow-up Commission of the Master Plan for Coexistence and Improvement of Security in Educational Centers and their Environments, held at the headquarters of the Government Delegation.
During the session, the activity report for the second quarter of the 2024/2025 academic year was presented and the participation of the different bodies involved in the development of the Plan was evaluated: National Police, Civil Guard, Municipal Police of Madrid and Violence Unit on Women of the Government Delegation.
The meeting was attended by Ángel Canales, director of the High Inspection Area for Education and coordinator of the Plan, Eva Corrales, head of the Violence against Women Unit of the Government Delegation, Citizen Participation staff of the National Police, agents of the Master Plan of the Civil Guard, representatives of the Municipal Police of Madrid and, as a novelty, members of the Civil Protection Unit who have joined this Plan during this second quarter with the aim of helping in the objectives of the same.
Thus, talks have been given in 1,127 schools, during the first two quarters, 116 more centers than last year; they have been held in 123 Madrid localities, which ratifies its implementation in the Community of Madrid.
Increasing evolution of the theme of violence against women and equality
The three most widely taught topics were ICT and the Internet (40%); bullying and cyberbullying in schools (24%); violence against women, equality and sexual non-discrimination (12%).
The talks on violence against women, equality and non-discrimination that reach, above all, the third and fourth year students of ESO and that have increased by 25% in a single year have increased significantly.
As for those over 12 years old, ESO, FP and Baccalaureate, this topic becomes the second most taught, since the most important for this age group is that of ICT and the Internet.
Civil protection joins the objectives of the Plan
In September 2024, the General Directorate of Civil Protection was incorporated into the objectives of this plan. Having defined the objectives, the Civil Protection Unit of the Government Delegation of Madrid selected the volunteers for their training at the National Civil Protection School as facilitators, in charge of giving the talks.
The civil protection volunteers have reached, in this second quarter, 27 educational centers, which involves 1,921 students from Madrid.
Other actions of the Plan
What is important about this plan are children and young people, which is why the Plan also includes a series of actions with the teaching staff, management teams and other collaborators through their advice or, in other cases, monitoring is established in the environment. In fact, more than 600 meetings with teaching staff have been held in the first quarter
