The delegate of the Government of Spain in the Community of Madrid, Francisco Martín, received today at the headquarters of the Delegation different representatives of the Platform of Affected by Metro Line 7B.
The neighbors have asked Francisco Martín for the government of Spain to mediate in a collective response by all the administrations involved. The association has affirmed that they live in a “situation of unbearable neglect” on the part of the Community of Madrid and has asked the delegate for a “concerted and multilevel response” to give a solution to the serious social, emotional and economic damages generated by the sinking of Metro Line 7B.
For his part, the government delegate has pledged to demand that the Community of Madrid assume “its responsibility” and has reported on his intention to send a letter this week to the Minister of Transport of the Community of Madrid to ask him about this issue and urge the regional government to provide effective solutions to the neighbors.
The Platform denounces that the construction of line 7B of Metro as it passes through San Fernando de Henares has caused more than 600 homes affected, 217 people evicted and more than thirty homes demolished, in addition to those awaiting demolition. The neighbors have said that “the Government of the Community of Madrid is granting compensation with which it is materially impossible to access a home, not to mention the multiple fiscal charges associated with the compensation and all the procedures from the demolition of our homes and businesses, to the purchase of a new home.”
