Before the statements of the delegate of Urbanism, Environment and Mobility of the City of Madrid, Borja Carabante, in reference to the celebration of Mad Cool, from the Delegation of the Government of Spain in Madrid we want to communicate:
- As is known, for months the government delegate has been trying to hold a meeting with the mayor of Madrid to address, among other issues, the situation of the space where the Mad Cool will be held, with the aim of knowing what changes the Madrid City Council has promoted that mean an improvement in the conditions of mobility and security in the environment of that space.
- For months, the Madrid City Council has not responded to this request and here one more of the consequences of this blockade repeatedly pointed out by Francisco Martín is manifested.
- The city council is responsible for granting the activity license without requiring any authorization or validation by the Government Delegation, among whose competences is not validating any mobility plan, as can be verified in the celebration of other great shows in different locations.
- The Delegation would like to thank the City Council of Getafe and the promoters of Mad Cool, who in recent months have been conveying their concern and interest in improving the conditions for the celebration of this festival.
- The Delegation has been working on preparatory meetings on the security device, in fact, in the coming weeks the usual security coordination meeting will be held at our headquarters in which the device that will finally be carried out on the occasion of this event will be defined.
- We request Mayor Martínez-Almeida to rectify the statements of his delegate of Urbanism, Environment and Mobility, Borja Carabante in which he points out that the license of activity of Mad Cool is conditioned to a decision of the Government Delegation.
- In any case, the Delegation insists on the importance of collaboration and coordination between administrations and, therefore, we announce the next call for a meeting on the current situation and the future prospects of this space to which representatives of the City of Madrid and the City of Getafe will be invited.
