- It is the decrease recorded in the first quarter of 2024
- Francisco Martín has pointed to the “magnificent coordination” between the Security Forces that have managed to maintain the crime rate 20 points below the Community of Madrid (in the 40.1 points)
The delegate of the Government of Spain in the Community of Madrid, Francisco Martín Aguirre, co-chaired this morning with the mayor of Torrejón, Alejandro Navarro Prieto, the Local Security Board of the municipality, in which he highlighted the good security data accumulated by the town.
According to data from the Ministry of the Interior, corresponding to the first quarter of 2024, Torrejón de Ardoz recorded a decrease of 5.7 points in the conventional crime rate and an overall decrease of 3.8 points according to data from the Ministry of the Interior.
These figures are consistent with those recorded in 2023, the year in which crime fell by 3.4 points (in conventional crime, the decrease was 5.8 points), which placed the crime rate in the town at 40.1 points.
For this reason, Francisco Martín wanted to congratulate the City Council and the FCSE for the “magnificent coordination” with which they operate, which means that the crime rate of the municipality is 20 points below the average of the Community of Madrid. “We are working well and we must continue along this path of improving data that is already good,” he said.
Review of Security Plans and Violet Point
At the meeting, in which representatives of the National Police, Civil Guard, Local Police and the Community of Madrid were present, the security plans for the electoral day of June 9 and the patron saint’s parties at the end of June have been revised. In this regard, he pointed out that “everything is ready” to guarantee the enjoyment of the neighbors of Torrejón.
One of the aspects that was discussed in relation to the Popular Festivities of 2024, which will begin on Friday 21 and end on Wednesday 26 June, was the installation of a Violet Point in the Fairgrounds, an instrument promoted by the Ministry of Equality to involve the whole of society in the fight against male violence and to spread, in a massive way, the information necessary to know how to act in a case of violence against women.
The government delegate thanked the City Council for its commitment to the fight against gender violence, and highlighted the fact that the Local Police of Torrejón is fully incorporated into VioGén (since October 13, 2022).
