The subdelegate of the Government of Spain in the Community of Madrid, Pilar Trinidad, has attended a new Technical Meeting of Relation of the Cañada Real that has been developed this morning in the House of Associations of Rivas Vaciamadrid to advance in the technical development of solutions.
The day was also attended by the commissioners for the Cañada Real of the Madrid Community, the City of Rivas and the Madrid City Council, together with the technicians of the different associations and entities that carry out some type of intervention, direct or indirect, in the Cañada Real.
The meeting worked on the road map of the actions to be carried out in the Cañada Real in the period 2024-2028, which includes interventions in four major areas: urbanism and environment, housing, social and security. Some of them are already under way, such as the case of the Security Crash Plan, which falls within the competence of the Government Delegation.
Within the field of housing, the subdelegate referred to the signing of the general protocol of action for the implementation of an Extraordinary Plan of Rehousing in the Cañada Real Galiana 2024-2034, signed on April 15 between all the administrations involved: the central, the autonomous and the local administrations (municipalities of Madrid and Rivas Vaciamadrid). “A very relevant agreement but one that is a political agreement, a starting signal that now needs to be put to work,” he said.
For this reason, he has announced that next Monday, May 27, the first technical meeting on rehousing is convened because, beyond the political commitment expressed, there is a need for a technical and legal development that is expected to be “complex” but that “must be done”. “We have achieved the agreement, but we cannot stop here,” he insisted, stressing the need to give way to specialists in the field to land that commitment and “the sooner, the better.”
Technical Relationship Meetings
The methodology of work in these meetings, of which several have already been held, is to work first in groups, formed by the technical staff of each area and then to share with the rest the proposals or conclusions reached in each of them.
Push for a solution for the Cañada
With the beginning of 2024, the Government Delegation in the Community of Madrid began a round of meetings with the different administrations and associations involved in the issue of the Cañada Real with the aim of promoting the search for solutions to the “main challenge of social justice” in the region.
These meetings made it possible, in April, to sign the general protocol of action for the implementation of an extraordinary plan of relocations in the Cañada Real Galiana 2024-2034 coordinated by all the administrations involved.
These technical meetings add to that momentum in the objective of advancing the solutions for the Cañada Real and giving continuity to the actions carried out so far.
