- After this first meeting, the intention is to continue working in monographic groups dedicated to specific issues of the Community of Madrid
- Francisco Martín hopes that the Community of Madrid and the City Council of the capital follow this path and place social justice at the center of their policies
The delegate of the Government of Spain in the Community of Madrid, Francisco Martín, presided this morning the first meeting of the Social Inclusion Working Group in which representatives of thirty neighborhood entities and associations, social organizations, foundations and unions participated.
The government delegate stressed the importance of setting up this working table to address the social emergencies that occur in the region and to share the points of view and diagnosis made by those who know the situation because they work every day on the ground to, in this way, "combat inequality and advance social justice." “We couldn’t stay in inaction,” he said.
Therefore, his intention is that, within the tripartite table that he has proposed to create together with the Community of Madrid and the City Council of the capital for the development of action plans in those areas where social urgencies are detected, the advice and collaboration of the social and neighborhood fabric is available to make the actions “as effective as possible”.
Topics on the table
For their part, the associations and entities present at the meeting have appreciated the call and, through each of their representatives, have had the possibility to put on the table their main concerns in the social field. Among them, accessibility and inclusion, education, housing, health, Minimum Vital Income, gender violence, youth, social exclusion, migration, etc.
Among the attendees were, in addition to the delegate and the subdelegate of the Government, Pilar Trinidad, representatives of the José María Llanos Foundation; the Regional Federation of Neighborhood Associations of Madrid; of the Spanish Committee of Representatives of People with Disabilities (CERMI); of the Association for the Prevention and Reintegration of Prostituted Women (APRAMP); of the Federation of Mothers and Fathers Associations “Giner de los Ríos”; of ACCEM Foundation for the Care of Refugees and Children’s Associations
Sectoral meetings
The intention of the Government delegate is that this working table will meet periodically to develop future actions that improve the life of the Madrid citizens, within the competences of the Government Delegation in the Community of Madrid, but also involving the other administrations of the region.
After this first meeting, his proposal is to continue working, but in a more sectorialized way, and with the firm commitment to “not stop” this momentum in the fight against inequality in the region, which he hopes will also be joined by the regional and municipal administrations taking the first step of designating their respective interlocutors, as requested, by letter, yesterday.
