- Francisco Martín has insisted on the need to make the social urgencies visible to seek solutions, and reiterates his call to the regional and municipal administration to create a tripartite table
- The Government delegate requests the President of the Community and the Mayor of Madrid to designate interlocutors to start this table
The delegate of the Government of Spain in the Community of Madrid, Francisco Martín, made today a tour of the neighborhood of San Cristóbal de los Angeles, located in the district of Villaverde, and held a meeting with business associations, neighborhood associations and social organizations working in the area to know first-hand the difficulties and problems they encounter.
Among the attendees of the meeting were representatives of organizations of the third sector such as: Assembly of Cooperation for Peace, Caritas, Arvil (Alcoholics Rehabilitated from Villaverde), Cultural Association Islamic Religious Community Muridiya, Creática (working to reduce school dropout), Action against Hunger, Association Education Culture and Solidarity, Adsis Foundation (supporting vulnerable people) and the Montemadrid Foundation; of the congregation of the Sisters Hospitallers; of the Regional Federation of Neighborhood Associations of Madrid and of the Association Vecinal San Cristobal; of its Young Mothers Association
In the opinion of the government delegate, the best way to address the social emergencies that persist in the Community of Madrid, many of them located in the south of the capital, is to be aware of them and, in this way, through their visibility, to be able to address solutions.
Importance of social policies
To this end, Francisco Martín stressed that it is "very important to develop more ambitious social policies by the City of Madrid and by the Community of Madrid where the problems are more complex and require coordinated and effective action between the three administrations", as is being proposed by the Government Delegation.
It is with this intention that Francisco Martín wants to promote a tripartite table, together with the Community of Madrid and the City Council of the capital, for the development of comprehensive plans of action with surgical measures in these neighborhoods, and has been confident that this line of action is possible.
“Today we have communicated with the president of the Community of Madrid and as the mayor of the City Council, asking them to appoint interlocutors to start this table,” said the government delegate.
Also in order to combat inequality, Martín has announced the creation of the Social Inclusion table in the Government Delegation, which will be constituted this week, in order to “listen to the social fabric of Madrid and work on the design and application to alleviate inequality and advance social justice, involving the other administrations of the region”.
