The delegate of the Government of Spain in the Community of Madrid, Francisco Martín, has today received the final opinion with the conclusions reached by the Citizen Commission for the Truth in the Residences of Madrid on what happened during the pandemic in these centers, after months of investigation.
The representatives of the platforms Marea de Residencias y Verdad y Justicia, Carmen Martin García and María Jesús Valero Pablos, were in charge of making the delivery, which took place at the headquarters of the Government Delegation.
The report concludes that 7,291 people died in the residences without hospital medical assistance. The research points out that many of these deaths could have been prevented by referral to hospitals in the region.
Its intention with this opinion is that the truth of what happened is known, that responsibilities are delegated and that the mistakes made are learned in order, in this way, to prevent them from being repeated if a situation such as the pandemic occurs again.
