Madrid, April 16, 2024.- The delegate of the Government in Madrid, Francisco Martín Aguirre, attended today the ceremony of delivery of the Gold Medal of the city of Getafe to the National Police Corps on the occasion of the bicentenary of its creation.
This event was held in the meeting room of the City Council of the town, presided over by the mayor, Sara Hernández who has been in charge of handing over the Medal to the general director of the Police, Francisco Pardo Piqueras.
Among those present were the Superior Chief of Police of Madrid, Manuel Soto and the head of the local police station of Getafe, the commissioner, Jaime Gutiérrez de Terán, among other police and municipal authorities to whom, the government delegate, has greeted at the beginning of a speech in which “he has expressed his gratitude, as representative of the Government of Spain in the Community of Madrid, to Getafe, its corporation and particularly its mayor, for this recognition to the National Police with the gold medal of the city”.
He has pointed out that “Getafe is an extraordinary and exemplary municipality. For many reasons, but especially for his defense of the quality of public services.” “And it is precisely the National Police that embodies what every public servant must profess: love and loyalty to their country and a deep sense of duty understood as a moral and ethical imperative”
Francisco Martín has highlighted the values that the National Police Force embodies “integrity, loyalty, the vocation of service, companionship, discipline or the will for work well done”, “foundations on which its work is sustained”.
The government delegate has pointed out the importance of investment in public security as “one of the great assets of our country and our Community.”
The recognition of the Gold Medal of the city of Getafe to the National Police represents the highest municipal distinction, and is granted as a thank you to the work carried out by this State Security Corps in that municipality, and on the occasion of the commemoration of the 200th anniversary of the creation of the Corps, which will be celebrated throughout this year 2024.
