• The Secretary of State for Housing and Urban Agenda, David Lucas, stressed that this is “a well done work, framed in the Local PIREP (PRTR funds), whose objective is to promote energy efficient rehabilitation policies for homes and public buildings”
• More than 5,000 M€ are allocated for the integral rehabilitation of buildings throughout Spain, of which 1,000 M€ are to finance actions in public buildings of CCAA and municipalities thanks to the program PIREP
The Ministry of Housing and Urban Agenda (MIVAU) has invested almost 200,000 euros (195,049 €) in the rehabilitation project of the historic building of the City of Ciempozuelos, in the Community of Madrid, inaugurated today. The investment has been carried out through the Program to Promote the Rehabilitation of Public Buildings for Local Entities (PIREP Local), and represents 35% of the total budget for the rehabilitation of the former Town Hall. “It is a pride to be able to rehabilitate this building, which is the home of all the neighbors, and which shows that it is being managed well,” said the Secretary of State for Housing and Urban Agenda, David Lucas, during the opening ceremony together with the Government delegate in the Community of Madrid, Francisco Martín, and the mayor of the municipality, Raquel Jimeno.
“A job well done, which is part of the Local PIREP, financed with the PRTR, whose objective is to promote energy-efficient rehabilitation policies for homes and public buildings. More than 5 billion euros are allocated for the integral rehabilitation of buildings throughout Spain, of which 1 billion are to finance actions in public buildings of autonomous communities and municipalities”, thanks to this PIREP program “with more than 400 programs and a lot of success”, said David Lucas.
Decarbonization process
Ciempozuelos is “one of the first actions that have been completed”, so the Secretary of State for Housing and Urban Agenda has “congratulated the Consistory for the effort and the splendid work they have carried out”, and also the MIVAU team for their perseverance to achieve the objectives, since “the end is worth it and there are many square meters that are being rehabilitated, within the decarbonization process so that emissions from the building are lower”. A task that is completed with the recovery of the historical and architectural heritage of the country, thanks to the 2% Cultural Program.
The objective is to intervene in public spaces to achieve a park of high energy efficiency and decarbonized by the year 2050. PIREP programs benefit from PRTR funds to boost the rehabilitation of public buildings and contribute to the fight against climate change.
Historic building
The building inaugurated today is located in the center of the urban center of Ciempozuelos, in the Plaza de la Constitución corner with the street of Jerónimo del Moral number 1. It was originally the town’s Town Hall, although during the last decades it had been assigned to other functions such as the Court of Peace or headquarters of the Municipal Police when the headquarters of the City Council moved to the new current building, in the 60s. The project includes the restoration and interior conditioning of the Clock House.
Thanks to the action carried out, accessibility has also been achieved through an accessible elevator and toilet, the building has become habitable, conserving and restoring it, while in terms of security, roof structures, forgeries and masonry factories have been rehabilitated, and it has been equipped with wired networks for its digitization.
