The Community of Madrid is one of those that most benefit from the 5% increase in the SMI, according to the estimate prepared by the Ministry of Labour and Social Economy on the territorial, sectoral, gender and age distribution of the people who will receive the increase approved in the Council of Ministers on Tuesday, February 6, of the Minimum Interprofessional Wage (SMI) for 2024.
Specifically, in the Community of Madrid there will be 387,300 beneficiaries, which in addition to those of Andalusia (510,500), Valencia (306,400) and Catalonia (300,100), account for about half of the total.
This increase will increase payrolls to 1,134 euros per month on 14 payouts. The increase benefits, especially, women, who are more than half of the people who receive this remuneration, and those under 25 years of age.
The information has been obtained from the microdata analysis of the Active Population Survey (EPA) of 2022 with salaries of the main job.
