The government delegate to the Community of Madrid, Francisco Martín, attended today the solemn raising of the flag that was held in Plaza de Colón on the occasion of the commemoration of the 200 years of the creation of the General Police of the Kingdom, historical predecessor of what is today the National Police.
The event was chaired by the Secretary of State for Security, Rafael Pérez Pérez, and was attended by the Director General of the Police, Francisco Pardo Piqueras, along with other police and civil authorities.
This event kicks off a calendar of events scheduled to celebrate the Bicentenary of the National Police, a historic milestone that makes the National Police the oldest state body of all the Spanish Security Forces and Corps, which will be developed in Madrid and in many other Spanish cities throughout the year 2024.
