- The attendees also watched the short videos that won the contest of the Government Delegation and went through the exhibition that reviews the institutional campaigns on gender violence in recent years
The Minister of Equality, Ana Redondo, was the surprise guest at the talk on “Equality and mistreatment between adolescent couples” that was given today at the headquarters of the Government Delegation to a group of students of 4th ESO and 1st Baccalaureate of the Decroly School of Madrid.
At the end of the presentation, he wanted to thank the attendees for the doubts, questions and situations they have shared and raised, which have helped him to become aware of the concerns and the way of seeing the world of adolescents. “I’ve realized we have to listen to you more, and we want to listen to you more. Sometimes the institutions move away from you, from what worries you, and it’s a big mistake,” he said.
In this regard, the head of Equality has insisted on the importance of bearing in mind the reality of the youngest people by those who have to take measures or approve budgets to fight against gender violence because they are “the future and the present”. And he reminded them that love is freedom, and that this is achieved “when we relate on equal terms”.
Master plan
Ana Redondo has thanked the Government Delegation for its work in coordinating the Master Plan for Coexistence and Improvement of Security in Educational Centers and their Environments in the Community of Madrid and has valued the wisdom of the content addressed in her talks, indispensable to advance in the construction of “a better society”.
For his part, the delegate of the Government in the Community of Madrid, Francisco Martín, in charge of welcoming the students of the Decroly school and inaugurating the day, has been convinced of the usefulness that this type of talks can have to help young people identify male violence. “You will be able to identify some behaviors and attitudes that may end up endangering the lives of your classmates, or of yourselves,” he said, addressing, in the latter case, directly to the students of the group.
The talks of the Master Plan for Coexistence and Improvement of Security in Educational Centers and their Environments related to gender violence are given by components of the Coordination Unit against Violence against Women of the Government Delegation.
They are usually taught in the educational centers themselves, with exceptions such as the one today, in which the person in charge has been Beatriz Román Mel, Head of Service of the aforementioned unit.
Short Projection
During the day, the screening of short videos on gender violence won by the youth contest organized by the Government Delegation and made by young people between 12 and 22 years old has been included.
The objective of this contest, which has just held its 1st edition, is to increase the awareness and sensitization of young people to violence against women and promote artistic creation.
Campaign exposure
In addition, attendees have been able to visit the exhibition of posters of institutional campaigns on gender violence, carried out by the Government Delegation against Gender Violence between 2006 and 2022, mounted for the occasion.
This is a travelling exhibition, organized by the Coordination Unit against Violence against Women of the Government Delegation in Madrid, which aims to raise awareness, raise awareness and prevent violence against women.
It gathers 17 posters of campaigns arranged chronologically, with the slogan or message, the main image of the campaign and a brief explanatory text, (also collected in QR code).
