The government delegate to the Community of Madrid, Francisco Martín Aguirre, accompanied the acting Minister of Defense, Margarita Robles, this morning during his visit to the military bridge installed in Aldea del Fresno to facilitate road communication with the town of Villamanta and which will soon be operational.
The deployed bridge, type Maybe, is about 49 meters long, and its assembly has been commissioned by half a hundred components of the Regiment of Engineers No. 11 of the Command of Engineers of the Spanish Army, based in Salamanca. Thanks to their work, the residents of Aldea del Fresno will be able to save the 43 kilometers of travel they need now to reach the neighboring Villamanta.
The direct communication between the two municipalities was cut off due to the heavy rains caused by the DANA at the beginning of September, which caused the overflow of the Alberche River and significant material damage, including the affectation of two bridges intended for road traffic.
