The government delegate in the Community of Madrid, Francisco Martín Aguirre, held a working meeting this afternoon with Pablo Izquierdo Ranea, director of the Functional Area of Work and Immigration of the Government Delegation. The meeting addressed issues that fall within this area, such as, among others, the immigration procedures managed by the Immigration Offices that the Government Delegation has in the Community of Madrid.
In this regard, a balance sheet of the actions has been presented: so far this year, the Functional Area has resolved more than 142,000 applications in the field of foreigners. In the first half of 2023 alone, 20 percent more applications were resolved than in the same period of 2022, and the number of recordings of applications in the management system of the immigration procedures has also increased by 16 percent.
This meeting is part of the round of interviews that Francisco Martín is conducting with the different heads of area and services of the Government Delegation to monitor his work and coordinate the actions for the coming months.
Specifically, the Area of Work and Immigration has as its objective, within the Community of Madrid, the management of the rights and freedoms of foreigners in Spain through the procedures of residence, residence, work and study permits in Spain, the attention to Spanish emigrants on their return, the procedure of processing claims to the State for salaries processed in court for dismissal and the sanctioning procedure for infringement in the hiring of foreign workers.
