The Government delegate to the Community of Madrid, Francisco Martín Aguirre, attended this morning the inauguration of the conference “Science for public policies in Spain”, within the scope of the Spanish Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
The acting Minister of Science and Innovation, Diana Morant, has been in charge of opening this forum in which, through presentations, dialogues, interactive sessions and debates, the different innovative initiatives that have taken place in Spain during the last years, analyze the strengths and weaknesses of the Spanish ecosystem and promote projects that take advantage of the opportunities offered by the European Union.
Conferences of this kind, included within the cycle “Strengthening and connecting the Ecosystems of Science for Policy in Europe”, have already been held in several other European countries, and with them it is sought: to identify the main institutions, organizations, networks, political frameworks and processes throughout Europe that promote the development of public policies informed by scientific evidence; to promote a European community of professionals at the interface between science-policy-society for the exchange of good practices and collaboration between countries; and to collectively help the development of projects of reform of the public administration and the scientific and innovation system to promote the valorisation of scientific knowledge and strengthen the National Ecosystems of science for policy.
