The Government delegate to the Community of Madrid, Francisco Martín Aguirre, held a working meeting this morning with the head of the Coordination Unit against Violence against Women of the Government Delegation, Eva Corrales Melero.
The purpose of the meeting was to follow up the work of the Unit in the first half of the year, analyze the latest cases of gender violence and coordinate the lines of action planned for this second half, among others, awareness campaigns and talks on gender equality and sexual non-discrimination, within the framework of the Master Plan for Coexistence and Improvement of Security in Educational Centers and their Environments.
The Coordination Unit against Violence against Women has been carrying out a daily work of personalized follow-up of each situation of violence against women, especially of women victims of gender violence with high or extreme risks in the Community of Madrid, verifying that all the protection and assistance mechanisms are working correctly. During the first half of this year, the Unit has monitored a total of 229 cases daily.
In addition, this Coordination Unit continues to work on the incorporation of municipalities into the Viogén system for monitoring and comprehensive protection of women victims of gender violence, so that their local police are incorporated into this protection tool.
Currently there are 33 municipalities in the Community of Madrid that have signed protocols in this regard with the Government Delegation. And to date, there are 9,941 active cases in the Viogén system, with police protection and monitoring.
It also participates in information campaigns, awareness raising and prevention of gender violence, with its intervention in 81 school talks on gender equality and non-discrimination in the first half of the year, within the framework of the Master Plan, and collaborates in the training and specialization of professionals.
