The delegate of the Government of Madrid, Francisco Martín, visited this morning the logistical center of the Delegation, a ship of almost 3,000 square meters located in the polygon of La Garena, in Alcalá de Henares, from where all the electoral material that will be used in the Community of Madrid in the next general elections on July 23 is managed, stored and distributed.
The Government Delegation ' s logistical support focuses on two main activities:
- The distribution from this center of all the material and physical elements for the vote: ballot boxes, booths and signage, ballot papers and envelopes, printed papers and minutes.
- Coordination in the real-time transmission of participation data and election day scrutiny, through representatives of the Administration.
In addition, a data center will be installed in the Government Delegation to address possible incidents on the day of the vote.
Distributed 3,614 booths and 19,069 ballot boxes for the 1,070 polling stations in the province of Madrid
Francisco Martín explained that, at the moment, the 3,614 voting booths (the same number as on the electoral day in May) and the more than 19,000 ballot boxes (7,118 ballot boxes for the voting envelopes for the Congress of Deputies and 11,951 ballot boxes for the envelopes of the Senate, with an additional ballot box for the tables with more than 600 voters, so that all the salmon envelopes that are deposited can be accommodated) are distributed to the 1,070 voting centers and 7,118 electoral tables in which “Madrileños and Madrileñas will be able to exercise their right to vote with normality”. To this end, they will have 4800 representatives of the administration and coordinators “who will be at your disposal to resolve any doubts or manage any incident that may arise,” he added. In addition, there will be 1,070 signers from the electoral centers of the province of Madrid.
The Government Delegation has begun to distribute since yesterday, Monday, the ‘soft electoral material’, that is, envelopes, ballot papers, electoral records and similar documentation. First, to the 25 large municipalities (of more than 20.00 inhabitants) and, subsequently, to the municipalities of less than 20.00 inhabitants.
Almost 3,800 representatives of the Administration will provide the data of the count and participation in the electoral day
To provide information on the constitution of the polling stations, on the data of participation throughout the day and on election results, 3,753 representatives of the Administration have been appointed, of which 1,881 will be data transmitters and 1,872 will be support representatives. In addition, there are 1,070 coordinators (one for each electoral center), who organize the tasks and shifts of the representatives collaborating in all matters related to the electoral day.
These representatives, for the most part, already participated as such in the election day last May so the training process for the handling of real-time data transmission tablets has been facilitated.
Elimination of the Robed Vote
For the first time in a general election, Spanish citizens residing abroad and wishing to vote will be able to do so without having to beg to vote, since the reform of the Organic Law of the General Electoral Regime that was approved on September 30 and that eliminates this administrative procedure for Spaniards living outside our country is applied.
