The Government delegate in the Community of Madrid, Francisco Martín Aguirre, attended this afternoon the act of taking office of the Director General of the Civil Guard, Leonardo Marcos, who was appointed in the Council of Ministers on June 13 to replace Mercedes González.
The event was chaired by the Minister of Defense, Margarita Robles, and the Minister of the Interior, Fernando Grande-Marlaska.
In his speech, Leonardo Marcos praised the Civil Guard as “the institution that has the most affection and respect among the Spanish citizens”, a merit that corresponds to its members. “For your essence and for your actions, for what you are and for what you do,” he said.
