The government delegate in the Community of Madrid, Francisco Martín, has joined the signs of condemnation of male violence during the minute of silence called by the City of Móstoles to reject the murder of a 40-year-old woman, allegedly at the hands of her husband, in a new confirmed case of gender violence.
The city council of Mostolos, headed by its mayor, Noelia Posse, has also decreed three days of official mourning for the death of the woman, who was stabbed in the neck and has fought for several days for her life in the hospital.
This new case of male violence raises the number of women killed by gender violence in Spain to 16 in 2023 – the first in the Community of Madrid so far this year – and to 1,200 since 2003. The victim had a minor child, bringing the number of minors orphaned by gender violence in Spain to 17 in 2023 and to 394 since 2013.
The Government Delegation has called for a minute of silence at 13:00 hours for this new victim, to which the staff of the same will be added.
