The government delegate in the Community of Madrid, Francisco Martín, today chaired the Local Security Board of Getafe together with the mayor of the municipality, Sara Hernández, in which the crime data recorded in 2022 and so far in 2023 have been analyzed, data that show “a positive evolution”.
This positive development is particularly noteworthy in the case of criminal infractions against property, since “they are the crimes that most concern the citizens”. In the year 2022, with respect to 2019, there was a reduction in conventional crime by 8.6%, reducing most criminal acts, with noteworthy events such as: the reduction of 40.6% in burglaries with force in homes, establishments and other facilities; the decrease of 17.2% in vehicle theft, and a decrease of 26.6% in robberies with violence or intimidation.
Crimes against the people also decreased; especially noteworthy is the 42.6% detriment in serious and less serious crimes of injuries and tumultuous squabbling.
Although so far in 2023, compared to 2022, there has been a slight increase of 0.97% in the total number of criminal offenses, the delegate stressed that the figures depict “a stability scenario” in terms of security in Getafe.

After the celebration of the Local Security Board, the delegate and the mayor have presented the FESPA Security Plan for the Patron Festivities of Getafe 2023, which will be held from May 18 to June 4.
Both agents of the National Police and the Local Police participate in it, among which coordination "is very good", said the delegate, confident that it will continue to be so because they are dates in which "the important thing is that the neighbors feel that they are safe and sheltered".
For this, he has assured, there are professionals “who will guarantee citizen security and will have the necessary reinforcements to comply with the objectives set.”
He also wanted to congratulate the Local Police of Getafe for their security plan, “a very valuable document to know at first hand the measures that will be implemented, how to act in the face of threats, what are the evacuation routes, how traffic will be distributed, in general, very valuable information for this local board and especially for the National Police.”
Finally, he thanked the City Council for its involvement in security matters, since it is “the only city council in the entire community of Madrid that evaluates crime monthly through this local board”.
