The government delegate to the Community of Madrid, Francisco Martín, attended this afternoon the institutional event commemorating the LXXIII anniversary of the Schuman Declaration, which was presided over by the president of the Senate, Ander Gil.

In his speech, Ander Gil called for "relaunching the European project" and adopting "firm" and "progressive" decisions to advance the construction of Europe. The president of the Senate warned of the dangers posed to democracy by "autocracies from outside and extremism" from within the continent.

It is the second year in which the Senate commemorates the anniversary of the Schuman Declaration, and, like last year’s edition, the celebration has also counted on the musical performance of the Municipal Symphony Band of Madrid, directed by the maestro Jan Cober, who has interpreted the European Anthem, by Ludwig van Beethoven, among other works.
