- The government delegate, Francisco Martín Aguirre, congratulates the public employees for the work they are doing in the Immigration Offices, in his visit to the office on Silva Street
- In 2022, almost 200,000 applications were resolved, and in the first quarter of this year, almost 64,000.
The government delegate in Madrid, Francisco Martín Aguirre, paid a visit this morning to the Office for Foreigners that the Delegation has located on Silva Street, 19, where he congratulated the public employees for the work they are doing to meet the requests of immigrant citizens.
The Government Delegation employs between 91 and 147 people (depending on the number of interim employees) to attend this service in the different Immigration Offices. The effectiveness of care for immigrant citizens is reflected in the following data:
- Number of cases resolved: in the year 2022 the number of applications has increased by 13% compared to the year 2021, and 197,940 applications have been resolved. With this, the resolution capacity of the Offices of Foreigners of Madrid has increased by 51%.
- Of these resolutions, 80% are for granting the requested request.
- In the first quarter of the year 2023, 63,711 were resolved, that is, 63% more than the requests resolved in the same period of the previous year.
The optimization of resources and the constant effort on the part of the Government Delegation have allowed a significant reduction in the processing times of all authorizations, in particular in the rooting procedures that are currently resolved within 3 months according to the current legislation, compared to the 11-month period in which it was resolved at the beginning of 2022.
There is also a significant reduction in community card procedures that are resolved in 1 month, renovations of residence and work, which are processed within 1 month, or authorizations related to gender violence or human trafficking, which are resolved within 7 days, reflecting the Delegation’s commitment to these groups.
The Government Delegation in the Community of Madrid has four offices authorized to make the démarches in the field of Foreigners by different points of the capital and the community, which are:
- Immigration Office in Madrid, calle de García de Paredes, 65.
- Office of Foreigners in Madrid, Calle de Silva, 19.
- Office of Foreigners in Madrid, avenue of the Plaza de Toros, 14. Vista Alegre.
- Immigration Office in Leganés, Calle de San Nicasio 31.
The Immigration Offices are units of the General Administration of the State in each province - in this case, in the province of Madrid - to attend to immigrant citizens in all those actions that need to be carried out, according to their situation. These offices are responsible, among others, for the following functions:
- Processing of residence permits, work permits and exceptions to the obligation to obtain work permits, return permits, extensions of stay, alien identity cards and foreign student cards, as well as the issuance and delivery of such permits.
- The assignment and communication of a foreigner ' s identity number by the police services of the Offices themselves.
- Information, reception and processing of applications for international protection and applications for statelessness status.
- The receipt of the application for registration card and travel certificate for departure from Spain, as well as its issuance and delivery.
- The processing of punitive procedures for infringements of the regulations on aliens.
The actions of the Delegation in the field of foreigners are in congruence with the reform of the regulation, correcting the imbalances of the labor market to occupy a position of difficult occupation and guarantee rights and freedoms, as well as integration in Spanish society.
