- Fighting violent youth gangs is a “priority.” The government delegate announces his willingness to participate in the specific sectoral meetings of the National Police and Civil Guard against the gangs
- Francisco Martín hopes to meet soon with the president of the Community of Madrid to address an effective collaboration between the two administrations for the benefit of Madrilenian and Madrilenian women
The government delegate in the Community of Madrid, Francisco Martín Aguirre, presided this morning the Local Security Board of the City of Soto del Real together with the mayor of the city, Noelia Barrado.
In his statement to the media, Francisco Martín thanked the mayor for the invitation to this meeting, the first to which he has been attending since taking office as a government delegate, and referred to the security data of the Community of Madrid.
Francisco Martín stressed that the Community of Madrid is “a safe region, in which crime from 2019 to 2022 has been significantly reduced, and has done so especially in conventional crime, by 9%, that is, the crimes that generate the most social alarm”. All this, thanks to the “fantastic work” being done by the State Security Forces and Corps, in collaboration with the local police and with the citizens as a whole, has been valued by the government delegate.
The fight against violent youth gangs, “a priority”
The government delegate also referred to violent youth gangs, which for him represent “a priority.” In this regard, Francisco Martín has highlighted the “intense work” that the State Security Forces and Corps have been carrying out, “as a result of which are the results that are already known”, and has announced his intention to participate in the different specific sectoral meetings that both the Civil Guard and the National Police hold to address the fight against violent youth gangs. “We are not going to give up any effort to improve the security conditions in our region and, therefore, to address this issue,” said the government delegate.
Cooperation in the fight against gender violence
The meeting also addressed a “truly relevant” issue for the Government Delegation, such as the fight against gender violence. In this regard, Francisco Martín stressed that in the municipality of Soto del Real, women’s trust in the State Security Forces and Corps has increased by denouncing the situation they suffer. In addition, Soto del Real is an example in the cooperation between administrations, for its involvement in the fight against Gender Violence. It is one of the municipalities in which since 2015 its local police is incorporated into the Comprehensive Monitoring System for Cases of Gender Violence, VioGén, with an agreement with the State that was renewed in 2021.
Meeting with the president of the Community of Madrid
On this issue and on the other issues that concern his responsibility in the Government Delegation, Francisco Martín hopes to have a meeting soon with the president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, “to address a truly effective collaboration between the two administrations to improve the lives of Madrilenian women and men.”
Soto del Real, municipality especially safe
“Soto del Real is a particularly safe municipality, with a crime rate of 38.42 points, well below the average of the Community of Madrid, which is 59.7 points, and with a strong decrease, of 33%, in the first two months of 2023. These are extraordinary results in terms of security, reflecting good cooperation and good policies on the part of all the actors involved,” said the government delegate.
